Uploading a file is not filing it

Uploading a file is not filing it. Three things still have to happen before anybody can open it or rely on it.

What happens after you press upload

1. The file is stored privately. Nobody can open it yet, including you.
2. It is checked for malware. This usually takes seconds and can take longer for a large file.
3. Somebody accepts it into custody. Until that happens it is a file that exists, not a document LEAT holds.

The screen shows all three separately, on purpose. A single green tick would hide the difference between "we have the bytes" and "this is on the record".

What "accepted" does and does not mean

Accepted means LEAT has taken the document into custody: the exact bytes are recorded, hashed and kept.

It does not mean the document has been approved, signed, paid, published or agreed to. Those are separate acts by separate people, and each one has its own screen and its own record.

If the check fails

The file is kept, and it is never opened. You will see that it was refused rather than a vague error, because a file that was refused is something the security team may want to look at.

Upload a clean copy. Do not rename the refused one and try again, because the check is on the contents rather than the name.
